My new communication technology teacher, Dr. Wachanga, assigned my class to read an article discussing mistakes that college journalists make. I found the article to have helpful advice that everyone should know, but rarely gets informed of. The mistakes were common ones that many make and don't realize. College journalists make generalizations about things, and this article corrects that. I would recommend all journalism major or minors read it.

I agree! This article was blunt and to the point but I think that's what people really need to hear. It was a realistic article that is trying to make journalists aware of what is really out there and how they should be prepared. This article, I thought, was great. It didn't sugar coat anything, and really? Who really wants to always hear about how things in your career field are amazing, and then you find out the truth and it really sucks! This is why I also thought this article should be read by all people who are hoping to become journalists. It could prepare them for what is out there!
ReplyDeleteThis article was really eye opening. When I entered college I was debating going into the journalism field. I decided that a career based around actually taking film and editing it was more for me than being the person behind the camera. Unfortunately, things are just as bad under the multimedia field, as far as positions, if you don't have a built up portfolio or years experience from another employer.
